Hey now, when it's fall sports season. It's just not about football, football, football. And uh... football. There's other sports that are getting their season underway as well.
Take for example... DePaul Women's Volleyball!
All HOME games for DePaul Volleyball will be broadcasted on chicagolandsportsradio.com via our LIVESTREAM! Starting tomorrow, August 29th at 7PM.
Tomorrow marks day 1 of the 2 day DePaul Invitational which will take place at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago. DePaul has one game tomorrow night at 7PM taking on Stony brook. The other match-up is at 4:30PM when Bradley squares off against Hampton. All 4 teams will square off against each other throughout the 2 days.
Here's the Schedule:
Friday August 29th
-4:30PM: Bradley vs Hampton
-7PM: Stony Brook vs DePAUL
Saturday August 30th
-10AM: Hampton vs Stony Brook
-12PM: Bradley vs DePAUL
-430PM: Bradley vs Stony Brook
-7PM: Hampton vs DePAUL
The DePaul Blue Demons (16-14 Overall, 2-14 Big East Conference in 2013) come into the 2014 season with 5 new recruits, along with 2 transfers, making that 7 total players that will be new faces to the team. Junior setter Colleen Smith is looking to build on the great season she had last season.Smith led the team last season with 1,036 assists. Returning for her junior year, Smith will be looking to build off the great season she had last year and is expected to be one of the leaders of this young team. Also back with the team this season is Callie Huebener, Randi Heath, Tyler Graham and Lexi Chanos.
One of the bigger question marks the team is facing is how they will fare against conference opponents from the Big East. In the matches I saw last season, they were right there throughout the match, but were just unable to get the W in most of them. 5th year head coach Nadia Edwards will be looking to change that for this season.
So fans... gear up for the season. It shall be a fun one to watch. I'll have another post with results/reaction from the DePaul invitational by Monday.
